Her dumb blonde looks could have lead to a career in B-movies, but after a scene-stealing cameo in All About Eve she was quickly re-invented as a comedienne, whilst her talent as a singer was also displayed in a number of comedy-musicals such as Gentlemen Prefer Blondes. Her comic timing was never sharper than as Sugar Kane in Some Like It Hot, yet a dramatic side she never really had the chance to exhibit was evident in her swan song, playing the idealist heroine of The Misfits. < show less
