Film Description

Long regarded as one of the great masterpieces of Russian cinema. The second part (aka The Boyars' Plot) shows Eisenstein's first use of colour in film, used discreetly and boldly to enhance the continuing story of Ivan the Terrible of Russia and of the murder plots against him. The concluding part of the trilogy was never made due to Eisenstein's death in 1948.

It is hard to bring words to this film, for pure artistry of cammera angles one has to go a long way to find better. It is a must for every film buff and is hard to better even with modern technology. One of the most powerfull films in the cannon, it has to be seen to be believed.
