Moviebrat whizzkids Lucas and Spielberg concocted this box office smash as a conscious attempt to rekindle the thrill of Saturday morning adventure serials, only mounted on a much larger budget. Tongue is never too far away from cheek in a truly ripping yarn full of great set pieces, with a typically rousing John Williams score to punctuate the non stop action. Ford plays hero archaeologist Indiana Jones, assigned to find the mystically empowered Ark of the Covenant before the Nazis can obtain it for their own evil use.
