Review by Thelonius McMahon on 24th November 2004 A visual poem. A masterpiece. An underrated film. A superb cast. Overshadowed by a magnificent 20 minute battle scene (Saving Private Ryan) but make no mistake, The Thin Red Line is the true film here. One of if not the greatest war film ever made. Have some patience, leave your blood thirst at the door and watch a film that elevates the war genre and filmmakeing into the realm only touched by the likes of Apacolypse Now, Full Metal Jacket. Don't pass this movie up, it is the reason films are made.
Review by Dan Hunter on 18th October 2004 A WW2 story told with such lyricism and visual beauty it could only have been made by the incomparable Malick. Unfairly overshadowed by Saving Private Ryan on release, this stands as one of the most impressive and affecting war movies ever made. View more reviews by Dan Hunter
