Review by Chris Jones on 7th March 2000 Clint's directorial debut, a highly effective thriller which shows the influence of Eastwood's mentor Don Siegel (who contributes a memorable cameo as a bartender). Eastwood casts himself as late night Californian DJ Dave Garber, who, flattered by the persistent attentions of an obsessive fan (Walter), who always requests that he play the song Misty for Me, rashly agrees to a one-night stand before returning to his true love (Mills). But Walter turns out to be completely unhinged, becoming an insidious, invasive presence in every aspect of the DJ's life; and hell hath no fury like a dangerous suicidal hysteric scorned as she proceeds to terrorise the errant DJ. The basic premise was ripped off wholesale for the inferior Fatal Attraction. View more reviews by Chris Jones
Review by Chris Jones on 21st March 2005 The Great Man's superb debut as director and the film appears to be rising in everyone's estimation rapidly recently (rightly so), not least because it served as the un-acknowledged blueprint for the awful Fatal Attraction, a Pale Rider of an imitation that completely ripped off Eastwood's film without admitting it - a crime against good cinema!
