The Cup

The Cup - In a remote part of Northern India, two soccer-mad young boys are inducted into a Tibetan monastery.

This film is not currently available on DVD.

Film Description

In a remote part of Northern India, two soccer-mad young boys are inducted into a Tibetan monastery. However, the boys' passion for the game and their desire to watch the 1998 World Cup Final on TV disrupt the tight discipline and quiet order of the monks' lives. This charming debut from writer-director Norbu is infused with gentle philosophical comedy, the picturesque locations on the Himalayan hillside where the monastery sits are filmed with a loving eye, and there are vivid performances from the young cast.
