Transposing Kurosawa's classic samurai drama 'Yojimbo' to Prohibition era America, Hill fashions an enjoyable thriller centring on the clash between Irish and Italian bootleggers in conflict over Mexican liquor in Jericho, Texas. There is also more than a passing nod to Leone's 'A Fistful of Dollars', itself also inspired by Kurosawa's film. Distinguished by trademark Hill action scenes and copious gunplay, and a fine Ry Cooder score
