Film Description

The talent of the director and Cruise's integrity and dedication as an actor are evident in this searing portrayal of the disillusionment and angst of a young disabled ex-serviceman after Vietnam.

Based on a true story, the film follows the young Ron Kovic from a zealous teen who eagerly volunteers for the Vietnam War, to an embittered veteran paralysed from the chest down, who emerges as a voice for the disenchanted. Nominated for eight Academy Awards, it won two, for best direction and best editing.
