Review by Gary Thomson on 25th November 1999

A beautiful film, with excellent direction, stunning photography and a score that mirrors the images we see perfectly. The film itself takes us from the origins of a special red violin through the centuries it survived and the people whose lives it affected. A story of how a love for something can overcome any adversary, and how music can inspire such passions in so many different cultures and people. Highly recommended.

Review by Lena Tustin on 15th January 2003

it's so many similarities between a woman and a violin: shape, sound and ...destiny. This is a story about a violin, whose destiny was inherited from a woman. Men, love, betrayals, acknowlegement and money - all what meant to belong to a woman became a life components of a violin.
