Review by John Davies on 21st February 2000 Contemporary Cinema's uncompromising prophet in the wilderness, Angelopoulos loads his tale - of a terminally ill poet who befriends a refugee Albanian boy - with not only his usual intellectual rigour and visual majesty but also massive emotional resonance. Seamlessly interchanging memories and landscapes in the mist, its bleakness illuminated by shafts of purest joy, it is a film touched by angels. View more reviews by John Davies
Review by anonymous on 14th January 2000 Alexander, a great author with failing health facing death, prepares to leave the family home for a sanatorium. A chance meeting with an Albanian orphan and the discovery of a letter from his late wife rekindles his hope and sends him on a strange journey in which the past and the present are intertwined.
Review by C Saratchandran on 10th July 2000 Ulysses Gaze and The Eternity and a Day are the two films which influenced me in deeper sense. Thanks to the great director.
