Film Description

A sprawling, blockbuster war film, old Hollywood style. A plethora of A-list US and European stars (John Wayne, Robert Mitchum, Henry Fonda, Richard Burton and Curt Jurgens are just a small sample) recreate the Allied invasion of Normandy on 6 June 1944 from every conceivable angle. No expense is spared in the heavy duty battle scenes, but the film is also long enough to offer a thoughtful portrayal of men at war.
