Barocco
Film Description A labyrinthine, flamboyant and - for its convoluted plot and elaborate camera movements - aptly named thriller, combining moody film noir with aspects of German expressionism as it escalates towards an unexpected conclusion. A boxer who has accepted, and then turned down, a bribe from a politician to lie to influence an election is killed by a hired assassin; the boxer's girlfriend then falls in love with the killer while trying to remake him into the image of her dead lover.

Review by anon on 30th May 2000 Fantastic, subtle study of a complicated relationship between brother and sister. Any critic that finds this film muted is missing the art in each of its frames. So much goes on, so much is left unsaid, that only the most careful of watchers will come away with all that this movie tackles.
