Le Bonheur Est dans le Pre

Le Bonheur Est dans le Pre - Francis is fed up. The workers in his factory are on strike, and his wife and daughter are tiresome.

This film is not currently available on DVD.

Film Description

Francis is fed up. The workers in his factory are on strike, and his wife and daughter are tiresome. Then along comes the chance to escape south (on false pretences) with Carmen Maura. He takes it. A gentle, slightly dark and rather witty homage to life's simple pleasures.

Review by Thanda Makhathini on 20th October 2005

I couldn't wait for Pathe to release this magnificent movie so I bought it from France. My review will therefore not make any comments about the quality of the R2 Pathe DVD. This movie is a marvel to watch. Set in the semi-urban rural area in France with exquisite cinematography. A man is confronted with business problems & a very spoilt family. With no available options & retrenchment of employees becoming inevitable, he leaves his family & becomes an imposter with hilarious results. I really do not want to say more than this lest I spoil the fun. What I enjoyed most about this movie is the totally unpredictable plot, believable characters with excellent perfomances, excellent story line and the comedy lines that would not make you to laugh your out heart but make you smile and think of the situations that the main character finds himself in. The French movie makers must be commended for their ability to make us remember the meaning of the word "cinema" as it used to be during the times of Eric Rohmer, Bertrand Blier, Jean-Luc Godard, Truffaut and Patrice Leconte (my fav. French movie maker). This movie is a modern classic.
