Film Description

Riefenstahl's Nazi propaganda film is surely the most notorious example of cinema's potentially malevolent influence: a deified Hitler, descending from the clouds, makes an irresistible tumultuous procession towards the triumphant 1934 Nuremberg rally. The directorial talent behind the film's original impact and continuing uncomfortable fascination is undeniable.

Finally, Leni Riefenstahl's Nazi propaganda film, 'Triumph of the Will'. Almost absurdly conspicuous on this list, it is surely the most notorious example of cinema's potentially malevolent influence: a deified Hitler, descending from the clouds, makes an irresistible tumultuous procession towards the triumphant Nuremberg rally. The directorial talent behind the film's original impact and continuing uncomfortable fascination is, nevertheless, undeniable. Shunned by the post-war cinema world and still widely reviled, Riefenstahl (now in her nineties) has made a career in photography, most recently in Sudan.
