Le poète maudit - In Memory of Borowczyk by Alan Boshier The Polish director Walerian Borowczyk died in February of this year (2006). An original but controversial talent, his career began with several highly regarded animated shorts and features, before moving into live action with Goto, l'île d'amour (1968). As his films became more explicitly erotic, critical attention fell by the wayside or became openly hostile, but most of them contain moments of extraordinary visual power and the best of them are very good indeed.
