Scenes From A MarriageIngmar Bergman, 1973 Film DescriptionPared down from the 300 minute TV version, stripped of all the visible technical mastery that we see in earlier Bergman, made up almost entirely of talking heads and their associated arms trying to communicate, this is a work of great art. Not a wrong note, not a badly framed shot, riveting from start to finish, the whole perfectly executed. Even a (comparatively) cheerful ending. But we can ignore that - Bergman never did understand endings. A real grown-up film for real grown-ups.
