Film Description

Academy Award winner Day Lewis towers over this account of the life of artist and cerebral palsy victim Christy Brown. If critics have complained that Sheridan should have used an actor similarly afflicted, the shades and nuances Day Lewis brings to the role never pander to sentiment, always light up the life. Co-written by Sheridan and Christy Brown himself.

Oscars were won by Daniel Day-Lewis (playing the adult Brown) and Brenda Fricker (playing Brown's mother).
