Humphrey Jennings's sublime poetic documentary of the sounds of Britain in the midst of war. It's 19 seamless minutes of images and sounds that requires viewing time and again for its beauty, connections and the economy with which it tells vast stories of the human spirit. Jennings shared the directorial credit with his editor Stewart McAllister.

'Listen to Britain' for me, is Humphrey Jennings in his prime. Relying totally on the sights and sounds of wartime Britain, the role of narrator is totally dispensed with, allowing the audience's intelligence and emotions to guide us through the film's 45 mins. No other film stirs feelings of patriotism in me like this one.
