I Live In Fear

Akira Kurosawa, 1955

Film Description

Made at the height of the Cold War, Kurosawa bases his film around a wealthy foundry owner who decides to move his entire family from Tokyo to Brazil to escape the holocaust which he believes is imminent. The family are living too comfortably in Japan to want to move and try to have him declared mentally ill. It becomes the difficult duty of a mediator to decide whether his fears are rational or not.
