Review by JD on 31st August 2000 Black-and-white and colour. Still possibly the most beloved family film ever made. Spare a thought for unsung Margaret Hamilton. Flushed with excitement at being offered a part in the film, she enquired which role she was intended to play. Came the reply, "The witch of course - who else?". JD
Review by RT on 28th September 2000 One of the most famous and beloved films of all time. A charming musical fantasy, featuring an utterly beguiling performance by a young Judy Garland, ably supported by a host of tremendous character actors. These talented performers weave an enchanting spell as we follow Dorothy and company, on their journey to visit the Wizard of Oz. The switch from black and white to glorious Technicolor serves to heighten the film’s magic. This is topped off by a delightfully imaginative score that really drives the action forward, the highlight of which must be the enchanting and timeless ‘Over the Rainbow’, a song that only truly captivates when delivered by Garland’s distinctive tones. A film that appeals to generation after generation. RT.

Cult Classics! by Dean Broughton Some films are not well received on their initial release. However, thanks to television showings, or home video/dvd releases, these films find a certain audience. These are known as 'cult' films. They are usually off-beat, and unconventional, and in some cases obscure.
