Film Description

From the searing impact of its (much imitated) opening credits, 'Seven' doesn't relax its grip. Although covering ground that is by now so familiar it is the stuff of spoof and cliche (yet another serial killer pursued by a world-weary cop about to retire, and his idealistic young replacement) this is - especially for a mainstream movie - a very dark and disturbing trip.

Review by PM on 7th August 2001

Eschewing the familiar approach of showing the killer in action, "Seven" concentrates on the aftermath of the crimes and is abetted in this, and throughout, by Darius Khondjis extraordinary photography. Pitt proves himself to be not just a pretty face, and Morgan Freeman is as solid as ever.

Review by RA on 3rd June 1999

The most unremittingly dark of the contemporary neo-noirs, Seven is a bible class for psychotics, descending from Murnau but owing its cutting to MTV. RA.

Review by Shawn Cory on 26th November 1999

This is by far one of the best films I have ever scene. David Fincher is a genius, I hope to encompus some of his style into my own.
