Review by Andy Mckay on 8th April 2004 Shot as a pseudo-documentary, Tavernier's L627 is a convincing and realistic portrayal of Police work in contemporary Paris. Bezace puts in a highly believeable performance as Lulu, a cop who is a human being first, battling hard not to take his professional problems home at the end of a shift. It is his humane streak which gives L627 a lot of its charm. Lulu is in danger of becoming too involved in the lives of some of the habitual junkies he deals with on a daily basis. Can he resolve his professional duties with the empathy he feels towards fellow human beings?
