Film Description

Sheen hunts down a renegade Colonel in Coppola's legendary drug-soaked, hallucinatory journey upriver. This is the Vietnam war as mad napalm-scented Wagnerian opera. From its eight nominations the film won Oscars for Best Sound and for Vittorio Storaro's majestic cinematography. Delirious, explosive, brilliant - an unforgettable 70s monster.

Oscars Winners - Great films, up to 70% off by MovieMail

This year, MovieMail has decided to dispense with the standard list of award-winners, and lift the curtain on some of the lesser-known categories in which many rare and exciting films reside.
The following movies were singled out for important aspects of the film-making craft and, we think, are the titles which glister brightest in Uncle Oscar's auric eye.

Political films by Abhijeet Ranadive

These films discuss the politics of their times - sometimes in a very overt fashion that may be termed propaganda, but many of them express a political point of view through a human journey - the journey that the protagonists go through in the film.

Road Movies by Myles McLeod

I love those rambling road and river journeys that take characters on an unpredictable amble from the normal to the surreal, paranormal, quirky or plain bizarre.
