Wonder why Warner’s have reissued this Fifties take on the Homeric epic? Actually, Wise’s film is both lively and spectacular, and as with the new version, some solid British supporting players shore up the less able principals in the main roles. Splendid transfer, complete with Max Steiner’s overture.
