Film Description
Two boyhood pals from New York's Lower East side diverge in their paths through life - Marty becomes a criminal, a killer without remorse, while Candella rises to chief of the homicide bureau. Richard Conte and Victor Mature take the leads in this film noir that is perhaps the most perfectly realized of all director Robert Siodmak’s films. Shot entirely on location, the film's expressionistic urban landscape is ideally suited to this tale of good and evil.
