Film Description

A pentet of films from the late, great Robert Altman.

Titles Comprise:

Fool For Love (1985)
Set in a barren New Mexico in the neon-lit confines of the seedy El Royale motel, this is Altman's take on Sam Shepherd's play about the complex and passionate relationship between a half-brother cowboy drifter and his sister.

The Long Goodbye (1973)
Chandler's classic novel, adapted by Leigh Brackett (no slouch at crime novels herself, but best known to movie buffs for her work on the Star Wars trilogy), and filtered through Altman's rambling sensibilities. Gould's laconic take on the private eye affords a refreshing retread of familiar themes.

M*A*S*H (1969)
One of the finest comedies about war ever made - featuring the antics of a mobile army hospital during the Korean War. And the film that spawned the hugely successful long running US sitcom.

O.C And Stiggs (1985)
The story of two problem teenagers looking for a good time at the expense of every institution known to middle-class American society.

Thieves Like Us (1974)
Set in 1930s America, this is the story of three convicts who escape from jail - the youngest is attracted to the daughter of the farmer who helps them escape. A remake of Nick Ray's They Live by Night.
