Film Description

Five François Truffaut classics from cinema's quintessential auteur.

The Man Who Loved Women (1977)
(AKA LHomme Qui Aimait Les Femmes) A whimsical, lively story about a Casanova who loves every woman he meets - literally! A playful romantic comedy, irresistibly charming and witty.

The Wild Child (1970)
(AKA L'Enfant Sauvage)Based on a true story of a 'wild child' found in the forests in the late 1700s, this is a humane reflection on society and the civilizing process.

Mississippi Mermaid (1969)
A wealthy tobacco factory owner orders a mail-order bride who works her way into Louis's heart and then runs away taking with her nearly all his fortune. Later on holiday in the South of France Louis spots Julie again. An outstanding examination of the cost of love.

The Story Of Adele H (1975)
Period film based in Nova Scotia around the diaries of Adele Hugo and her unrequited love for a British officer. A haunting and powerful story of obsessive love with a young Adjani matched for the part.

The Bride Wore Black (1968)
Jeanne Moreau plays a widow prevented from suicide by her mother after her newly-wedded husband was murdered by five men on the steps of the church after their marriage. Emotionally distraught but diabolically clever, she plots the five men's deaths, and relentlessly pursues them until they have been disposed of. Who will be next and how will they meet their end?
