Film Description

It is the height of the Napoleonic era and Edmond Dantes’ life is on the perfect course. About to become a Captain in the Navy andalso marry his true love, Mercedes, his plans are shattered by three men - Danglars, Fernand Mondego and Cadrousse. Falsely accused of conspiring with Napoleon, prosecuted by the conniving De Villefort, he is sentenced to an agonising life on the isolated island fortress of Monte Cristo. The only thing that keeps him alive is his overwhelming desire for revenge…

Featuring an all-star cast and with Richard Chamberlain in the title role, this is arguably the definitive adaptation of Alexandre Dumas's novel.
