Morecambe and Wise (Series 1 and 2)Various (TV), 1968-1969 Film DescriptionOf all the comedy acts Britain has produced, Morecambe and Wise are perhaps the best loved and most fondly remembered. They were the first truly great double act in Britain and, although many acts have tried to emulate them, no-one has yet succeeded in replacing them in the hearts of the country.
With a mixture of sketches, musical numbers, and the plays 'wot Ernie wrote' there was something for all the family. Star guests would line up to appear alongside the duo. Elton John proved a good sport in a sketch that saw Eric and Ernie detouring him everywhere but the stage to stop him singing. Even The Beatles didn't dare correct Eric on the fact that their drummer was not called Bongo Starr.
