The Pirates of Capri

Film Description

Aka The Masked Pirate, I Pirati di Capri. Italy, 1798 and the masked Captain Sirocco (Louis Hayward) leads a daring raid on a ship to free its crew from their cruel Neapolitan overlords. After a swashbuckling opening, the film gracefully follows the romance of Sirocco and the Countess de Lopez, and their feud with the villanous Baron von Holstein (Rudolph Serato). Ulmer’s skill as a director of action is evident throughout, and Hayward clearly relishes his role as a masked action hero hiding behind the persona of a mincing, hankie-fluttering dandy.
