Film Description

The surprise winner of the Best Picture Oscar in 1952, this fun slice of Hollywood hokum boasts an all-star cast in its story of what goes on behind the scenes of a particularly dramatic circus. Highlights include a fiery romantic triangle, a clown (James Stewart) with a dark secret, and an appropriately cynical performance from the ever-wonderful Gloria Grahame as a sarcastic showgirl. A marvellous, if silly spectacle, with terrific circus set pieces.
