Film Description

Mel Gibson, fresh from his success as Mad Max, stars as the young Commander of an elite squad of hard-core Australian soldiers (including Sam Neill) working behind the lines on a Japanese occupied island in World War Two. They have to avoid the Japanese soldiers and enlist the help of the local underground operatives to succeed on their mission. Based on real events that took place during the final months of World War II, and made with the assistance and cooperation of officers of the Z Special Forces Association of New South Wales and the First Australian Submarine Squadron, 1 Commando Company.
