Film Description

Lincoln Six-Echo and Jordan Two-Delta are among the hundreds of residents of a contained facility. Everything about their day-to-day lives is monitored, and their only way out is to be chosen to go to 'The Island', reportedly the last uncontaminated spot in the world. When they learn their lives are a cruel hoax and that they are more valuable dead than alive, they make a daring, adrenaline-filled escape to the outside world.

Review by Barry Forshaw on 29th November 2005

Controversially received, Michael Bay's thriller finds a natural home on DVD. Michael Bay (Bad Boys, Armageddon) directs another adrenaline fuelled action thriller, which stars two of the most employed actors working in Hollywood today, Ewan McGregor and Scarlett Johansson. Lincoln Six-Echo (McGregor) and Jordan Two-Delta (Johansson) are among hundreds of residents of a contained facility in the mid 21st Century. Everything about their lives is monitored and the only way out is to be chosen to go to The Island, reported to be the last uncontaminated spot in the world following an ecological disaster, which claimed the lives of everyone on the planet apart from them. After the discovery that everything about their existence on the island is a lie, Lincoln and Jordan make a daring escape to the outside world they've never known while the forces of the institute relentlessly hunt them down. No nuances here, but kinetic action sequences.
