Based on the extraordinary true-life of a Thai kickboxing champion, Ekachai Uekrongtham’s impressive film follows the success of one of Thailand’s greatest sporting heroes, Parinya Charoernphol, who despite social taboos, confronts his own sexuality in a male-dominated sport, creating his own rituals before daringly undergoing a sex change operation to become a champion as a woman.
