Julius Caesar (BBC, 1979)
Film Description Cassius and Marcus Brutus are alarmed at the power Julius Caesar is assuming after his conquering of Pompey the Great and resolve to act. Shakespeare's greatest Roman tragedy breaks conventional rules of drama, creating neither a clear-cut hero nor villain. Director Herbert Wise, who also directed I Claudius, conveys a world of personal and political conflict while allowing the play's supernatural undercurrent to emerge.
