Film Description

In Brad Bird’s brilliant first feature, a young boy befriends a giant robot and attempts to hide him from the cold war paranoia of the town’s inhabitants. Based on the short story by Ted Hughes, Bird proved what he could accomplish without the need for cutesy animals and redundant songs. The characters are perfectly rendered conveying real emotion and the ending is guaranteed to leave you with a lump in your throat.
