Film Description

Joy of Madness is 14-year-old Hana Makhmalbaf's record of her 22-year-old director sister Samira's attempts to cast the acclaimed Afghanistan-set drama At Five in the Afternoon. Recorded with a digital camera on the streets of Kabul shortly after the fall of the Taliban, Hana managed to capture scenes that give a fascinating insight into contemporary Afghan society as well as House of Makhmalbaf filmmaking techniques.
