Film Description

Set in the political and social turmoil of Boston in the aftermath of the civil war, an epic struggle is played out between a feminist and a chauvinist who both attempt to gain control over a spirited and gifted young woman. Battle is joined against a backdrop of luminous New England landscapes. Ruth Prawer Jhabvala wrote the screenplay from Henry James's novel.
