It’s now apparent that The Blair Witch Project inaugurated a new cycle of low budget, documentary-style horror films, preferably cast with unknowns and shot in a cinema verité style. While some of the results have been as disorienting as the original, some of the spin-offs have been truly lamentable. Not so Marc Evans’ My Little Eye, which has already built a reputation as a stylish and effective piece, making some cogent points on idiotic voyeur TV shows such as Big Brother along with delivering the requisite chills. This DVD version is something of a deluxe edition: as well as nine deleted scenes, director’s commentary and an intelligent documentary, there is an interactive browser mode that genuinely enriches the experience of watching the film. < less
