Katie Tippel (Keetje Tippel)
Film Description Verhoeven in social-realist vein. Escaping the poverty of rural Holland and lured by the promise of riches, Katie moves to Amsterdam with her family. All they find is squalor and the only way out for Katie is prostitution. As a result, she becomes the mistress of a well-to-do banker who introduces her the upper class lifestyle. A bolder, bawdier take on My Fair Lady.

Review by anonymous on In an attempt to escape poverty, Katie and her family move to Amsterdam, where instead of wealth they discover squalor. With their illusions shattered, Katie turns to prostitution and becomes the mistress of a banker. Bold and brutal, frank and explicit.
