Martin Arnold - Cinemnesis
Film Description Piece touchee, Passage a l'acte and Alone: Life wastes Andy Hardy. Arnold calls these pieces his 'revenge on film history'. Inspired distortions of popular cinema that challenge the supposedly stable system of Hollywood space and time and undermine the pretence of the family idyll. They are also hilarious.

Review by GH on 19th February 2003 Imagine a film that addresses male/female role-playing in society, power games in marriage, mating ceremonies, manners and bourgeois respectability, predatory sexuality and Freudianism in the family (amongst other things). Then imagine that the film is 15 minutes long and silent, and consists of heavily-manipulated 18 second stretch of Hollywood film. Brilliantly subversive, ingenious and utterly hilarious.
