Review by Barry Forshaw on 10th March 2003

Stylish chills from the talented Pang Brothers: a powerfully wrought supernatural tale that only suffers from the cynical ploy of going for the youth market by making almost every principal character implausibly young, even experienced doctors and psychologists. Young Mun, who has been blind since childhood, is given an operation to restore her sight, but after receiving a cornea transplant, she starts seeing ghosts everywhere. More disturbingly, when she discovers that the donor was a doomed clairvoyant, it looks increasingly likely that she might share the same tragic fate. The Pang Brothers evoke memories of The Sixth Sense and Richard Matheson’s A Stir of Echoes. The US remake rights are in the hands of Tom Cruise, so expect the customary traducing of the original.
