Film Description

Of the myriad British sitcom spinoff movies of the seventies, Dick Clement and Ian La Frenais' The Likely Lads proved to be one of the more durable transitions from small to big screen. All the best tragicomic elements of the later series are here: Bob's descent into apathetic domesticity, Terry's desperate attempts to find employment in recession hit Britain, and the ongoing demolition of the Newcastle they grew up in. An hilarious black comedy based on the 1960s sitcom. Set several years on from the series, Tony is now living with a girl called Christina who seems to have an amazing effect on him. He no longer wishes to go down the pub with Bob as he used to and even seems to be acting responsibly - much to the astonishment of Bob and Thelma.
