Film Description

Luminous and vast in scope, Pasolinis Arabian Nights is finally with us on video. Its non-linear design is structured around dreams, tales within tales; the story of Zumurrud, slave girl turned empress, is truly entrancing. Love, sadism and passion deferred have never been so lyrically sublimated. A stunningly beautiful and challenging masterpiece.

Review by Dave Butcher on 19th October 2001

Yet another film to rank up with Oedipus Rex, The Decameron & The Canterbury Tales. But this time in colour. Like most of his previous films his feeling for atmosphere once again draws us back into the past. Another masterpiece that immerses us in the clear beauty of its locations. Nineto Davoli and Franco Citti are included in the cast.

I love stories, that are sometimes complex; always engaging; have well developed characters; are paced beginning-to-ending; visually appealing; entertaining. I hope you like my selection.
