Sunshine (Szabo, 1999)
Film Description A glorious family saga illuminated by Ralph Fiennes playing, with infinite subtlety, different characters in different generations of a Jewish family living in Hungary. From humble beginnings to positions of wealth and power in the crumbling Austro-Hungarian Empire, through the holocaust to the modern day. Fiennes is a very different actor than Mastroianni, but there is something in this film, - humanity, kindness - that resonates.
