Film Description
Weave Me a Rainbow is the first volume of five films featuring Scotland's textile industry from the 1950s to the 1970s.
The programme features: Royal Occasion 22nd June 1955 - HM Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip vist the carpet factory of James Templeton in Glasgow; From Glasgow Green to Bendigo - about carpet manufacture at Templeton's, emphasising the importance of their worldwide export market; Weave me a Rainbow - a feature on the Scottish woollen industry for the National Association of Scottish Woollen Manufacturers; Fine Floors - a promotional film for the linoleum manufacturers, Michael Nairn and Company of Kirkcaldy, showing the manufacturing processes and export trade of the company; Island of the Big Cloth (Clo Mhor) - the story of Harris Tweed and the life of the islanders who produce it.
