Film DescriptionA warm and witty comedy from screenwriter William Rose (The Ladykillers, Guess Who’s Coming To Dinner), Touch and Go stars Jack Hawkins as Jim Fletcher, head of a British family, who in a fit of pique decides to up sticks and move them to Australia. His decision to move lock, stock and barrel to another continent does not thrill his family, threatening as it does both his daughter’s romance and the peace of mind of his long suffering wife. As the logistical and legal problems mount, the family question whether it’s better to try and change with the times, rather than run away altogether. Nominated for Best Actress and Best Screenplay at the BAFTAs that year.
