MovieMail's ReviewJames Oliver is stirred by this heartfelt tribute to America's most-decorated WWII soldier, starring Audie Murphy as himself. Hollywood routinely made biopics about notable figures, but it was unusual for the film to star the person whose life story it tells. Then again, Audie Murphy was a most unusual fellow. Raised in poverty during the great depression, he joined the US army to do his bit in World War Two. He might have been underaged and undersized (5’5” in his stockinged feet) but he went on to become the most decorated soldier in the entire history of the army – and all before his 20th birthday.
