Film Description

Joanna Shimkus plays the clergyman's virginal daughter who falls for the smouldering sexual magnetism of Franco Nero's gypsy in this faithful 1970 adaptation of DH Lawrence's novel of the same name. Fresh from the relative freedom of a French finishing school, Yvette returns home to England where she falls in love with a travelling fortune teller. Unaware of the tragedy ahead, they are soon involved in a passionate affair.
