Film Description

Oscar-winning animator Richard Williams (Who Framed Roger Rabbit), actually began work on his dream project of The Thief and the Cobbler in 1964, spending 28 years on the project before losing the rights, whereupon it was finished and re-edited by producer Fred Calvert in the 1990s.

Narrated by Matthew Broderick as Tack the Cobbler, the CinemaScope-shot story takes place in ancient Baghdad. Brought to the royal palace after incurring the wrath of evil sorcerer Zigzag (voiced by Vincent Price), shy cobbler Tack (Matthew Broderick) quickly falls for the charms of Princess Yum Yum (Jennifer Beals). Unfortunately for Tack however, Zigzag has his own plans to marry the Princess in order to take control of the kingdom from her father.
